Graduate Job
Graduate Buyer - 2017
at Balfour Beatty

Employer: Balfour Beatty

About the role

Our Graduate Buyers follow a training programme and work towards achieving chartered status with CIPS.

Having recently undergone a Procurement and Supply Chain transformation, we are looking for ambitious individuals to carry out the procurement process for bespoke procurement requirements in accordance with our procurement & supply chain management strategy.

The role will be fast paced and time sensitive, reflective of the company’s project based nature. This is a great opportunity for highly motivated graduate who wants to progress within the construction industry.

The scheme will be over two years. The first year will involve 6 months in an indirect category followed by 6 months in a Strategic Business Unit. The second year will involve 6 months in a non-procurement role followed by another 6 months back in a procurement position.

What you'll be doing

Over the two year development programme, you’ll undertake a number of placements that will give you a taste of different business areas with each one offering an insight into the people, processes and technology that are transforming our business. Each placement will have real responsibility, a personal mentor and support for professional qualifications and membership to get your career off to a great start.

Our programme recognises the importance of giving meaningful and challenging work, so you can expect to be immersed in real activities and given responsibilities from the outset.
You will have the opportunity to work on live projects and to learn from a host of experienced and talented managers. You'll be invited to attend Group graduate-based events which will provide you with an opportunity to network with your peers and share best practice.
