Application Advice:

Agencies review loads of applications so think of ways to make yours stand out (keep it short, have fun, and showcase your personality).

Interview Advice:

As much as you can study up on the industry be prepared to talk about yourself - the interviewer will be keen to get to know you as a person and to work out how well you will fit into the agency.

That said it is still worth brushing up on your knowledge of the industry including current adverts and emerging trends. Have opinions on your favourite AND least favourite ads, as well as how you would progress with/improve them (try not to think of obvious examples; the brands you choose to discuss are a great way to showcase how you think and your interests).

Application Advice:

Be confident, be yourself, be weird, always think out of the Box.
Nobody wants someone who thinks the same way as everyone else.

Interview Advice:

Be confident, be yourself, be weird, always think out of the Box.
Nobody wants someone who thinks the same way as everyone else.

Read a lot about advertising, know your favourite campaigns and creatives.

Know all CHI work, if you're lucky you will talk about someone about their campaign and then you will massage their ego.
Also don't be afraid to be critical, constructive criticism is always welcome.

Application Advice:

Always triple check, spelling mistakes are a big no no. And don't try and cram everything you've ever heard about advertising into your answers. You often have limited word count, so a clear and succinct answer is best.

Interview Advice:

Always have a good question to ask your interviewer at the end. For example it could be why exactly they got into advertising or what is their favourite piece of creative and why? Its always good to show interest and there is nothing worse then the awkward silence when you're asked 'any questions?'.

Application Advice:

Try to show your unique personality by avoiding clichés and demonstrating some creative flair.

Be passionate, not only for the role you are applying for but for the industry as a whole.

Be confident in your greatest strengths.

Interview Advice:

Try to show as much enthusiasm as possible. You aren't expected to have endless knowledge about the job as a graduate so the best thing you can do is show that you are extremely keen to learn.

Don't panic, no-one is trying to trick you with their questions. Smart casual attire is fine.

Be prepared to think on your feet. They like to ask unusual questions that reveal a bit of personality.
