Application Advice:

Be interested in the world around you and show attention to detail. CIL do not expect you to have all the answers on applying but you must show a capacity to learn and have the drive to be a good analyst.

Interview Advice:

Application Advice:

Do your research into CIL, who we are and what we do. A significant proportion of our work is closely linked to mid-market private equity mergers and acquisitions, primarily in a commercial due diligence capacity, so make sure you understand what that all means.

Interview Advice:

If you make it through to interviews you will have a mentor from CIL to help you out; make sure you use them and do not be afraid to ask any questions. And remember that you are being marked against both capability and 'company fit' criteria - you need to demonstrate both the skillset required to become a good consultant but also that you'll be a good person to work with.

Application Advice:

Try to find out as much about CIL as you can. What we do, why you are interested in this particular career, what makes us different to our competitors and what particularly appeals to you about working for us.

Interview Advice:

After passing the tests and the CV / cover letter vetting you will be assigned a mentor.

Ask your mentor many questions about the company, it will help you in interviews by enabling you to understand the role. Plus it will show to us that you are interested in a career at CIL.

Interview Advice:

Research the type of work CIL do and be prepared to be questioned on your understanding.
Have a couple of industries / economical affairs in mind that you are capable of talking about in depth. Be prepared to give an opinion.
As with other management consulting interviews, practice some market sizing questions beforehand. Be sure to explain your thought process as this is more important than the eventual answer.
Be clear on why you want to work for CIL and not another consultancy.
