What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Be smart, and be proactive. You will get given things, but the most interesting things you can get are things you need to set up yourself. If you're smart, don't just sit there 'being smart', use your intelligence to the advantage of yourself and your team.

Don't be daunted by big business questions. Nobody expects you to have the answers, but remember that in this industry your input is as valuable of those many ranks your senior because you live in this world and are exposed to media and advertising as much as anyone, and there will be at least one audience you understand better than anyone else.

Do you have any interview tips?

Be honest. The people interviewing you are in the business of understanding how people behave, what they think and feel, and why they do those things; they will see through you. Trying to 'game' them into giving you a job may or may not work, but it certainly won't be satisfying when you're working late nights on big projects, and there's nowhere to hide who you are.

Being 'nice' doesn't equate to being boring or forgettable. Don't forget that there's nothing like giving time to someone else's thoughts and feelings for them to have a good impression of you.
