For a technical position, they are interested in things you accomplished on your own time, or larger projects that involve multiple stages and working in a team. Every other graduate with a Computer Science degree has written a fast algorithm to find the shortest path on a map. Give them something interesting that stands out. Don't be afraid to brag about your accomplishments, that is what an application is for.

Make sure you research the roles very well before applying. Certain terminologies are company and industry-specific and might be confusing for graduates who have been looking at traditional graduate jobs. But they are actually largely the same functions.
