What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Successful applicants will always be those who can demonstrate some commercial nouse. We're sales people and the ability to demonstrate a strong commercial awareness and a passion for your own career is key.
Sports and activities are always a big selling point in your CV - ultimately this is an industry that is filled with competitive people and it takes a competitive spirit to succeed, coupled with a strong team ethic.

Do you have any interview tips?

Be confident, be prepared and be well presented.
People underestimate the value in smiling and good body language but these are key to your success in an interview for a recruitment position. Smiling implies confidence, success and automatically puts your interviewer at ease. Remember, first impressions take 8 seconds to make and a life time to change so make yours count.
If you want to be successful in an interview you should be prepared to demonstrate a keen understanding of Hays' core values and a drive to succeed.
Candidates who do well in our assessment centres show the ability to think quickly under pressure, strong sales skills but most importantly are well liked by their interviewers.
Being smartly dressed almost goes without saying for any interview but really do think about how you are presented. As a recruiter you need to be better dressed than your best dressed clients and candidates. If a candidate arrives to interview for me dressed casually or in scruffy clothing they have nearly lost the battle from the onset. Simple business attire is sufficient and there is plenty of advice out there on the web, so don't get caught out on a controllable part of your interview.
