What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
It's a cliche, but be yourself - its much harder to pretend to be someone else, and if they don't like you for who you are then you are better off not working at the firm. Be realistic about your role - you are the smallest fish in a very large pond, so responsibility doesn't come as of right - you have to earn it. Be realistic about the hours as well - it will vary from department to department, but this is a city law firm so expect to work hard when it counts.

Do your research on the firm, the wider legal market and the business/city world generally. Read the Economist for an extended period of time - it really helps.
