Application Advice:

The plan doesn't necessarily fit. If you are looking for a corporate role this isn't for you. It also requires a lot of resolve and personal drive as you will spend long periods of time looking after your own development without seeing senior leadership. Requires great personal discipline to do this.

Interview Advice:

Think about your behaviours and how you would work with others and understand yourself.

Application Advice:

When applying for KFC, one of the most valuable pieces advice I received during the application process, is to be your best self. By this I mean, be completely authentic in everything you do and show some vulnerability so during the interview process they can get to know the real you.

Interview Advice:

For interview questions, try to think of difficult scenarios you have had to overcome previously, these can be in a previous job or in your personal life. The interviewer will want to know how you went about solving such difficult situations and what was the end result.

Application Advice:

I would advise candidates to be themselves and to look out for the things that make them different. If you can highlight the value that you can contribute to the company you are more likely to be seen. KFC like people to be individuals and be their best selves. Ultimately you need to be able to run a restaurant, but it's good to have a spark of something new. Share if you are not good at something, and be open about your weaknesses as they will be able to help you.

Interview Advice:

When being interviewed, ensure you take the time to get to know other people. It is good to prepare examples of when you have used your skills and how you have learned from the experiences you have had. This doesn't mean you have to have a lot of experience, it just means your focus should be on articulating how you want to be heard.

Application Advice:

Be authentic. Please do not respond to the question: what is your biggest weakness? With the answer Perfectionist, or some other manipulated answer. Be open and honest, with a willingness to want to improve.

Interview Advice:

You will be asked a lot of questions about you. Not so much about work experience or your working life. It'll be a journey. So think hard about who you are and where you want to be.

Demonstrating knowledge about KFC and Yum! is one of the most important attributes to exhibit. When you engage in conversation that imparts your knowledge of KFC's operations, the companies history, recent initiatives (marketing or otherwise), KFC's corporate culture and wider industry trends, for instance, you actively convey diligence, interest, curiosity, enthusiasm, drive, inquisitiveness, engagement and genuine dedication to your application and will give your answers that extra rigour.

Best:

The company culture and benefits. The culture is lived and breathed by all employees, which creates a very positive working environment for everybody. Also Kfc's benefits package is excellent as it helps you tailor any benefits to how it would suit you best.

Worst:

Whilst training to become a restaurant leader, the hours can often be unsociable but it's part of the responsibility when running your own store. Additionally since moving into my new role, days can still be long but the reward at the end is worth it.

Best:

The culture is really good and helps you to develop to be your best self. The people are really open and you can reach out to senior management to build know how and develop your network.

It is a transformative journey over the first 12 months but you have the support of the HR team throughout your time.

Worst:

Work life balance can be difficult to control so it is important to get this right for longevity of career at KFC.
