Be passionate, confident and don't try to lie to anyone. Have the self awareness to know where you're at in terms of experience.

Focus more on where you want to end up and the kind of things you want to achieve. Internal progression is a big thing in finance because of the investment they make in you, in relation to financing your studies.

You don't necessarily have needed to work in pubs/restaurants before. You need to demonstrate that you have made an effort to understand the industry and more importantly Mitchells and Butlers brands. It is obvious when someone comes to an interview under-prepared or they have applied for lots of schemes not really knowing why they are applying for this one in particular.

It is important to be realistic about the job in hand. Ask about the daily life of an operations graduate and a RBM (Retail Business Manager). Gain as much hands on experience in any job role whilst at university, whether that be with a student union or volunteering.

Interview Advice:

Interview questions can be generic, so prepare for some beforehand. However, it is important you don't just regurgitate your answers and act like a robot. Be yourself, don’t be scared to ask questions and be aware of the other candidates, we don't operate in a dog eat dog environment!

work/life balance can sometimes be difficult to maintain - but having worked in other places prior to this, this is no different from past jobs I have had.

- Its a company of great people. Everybody is really approachable and supportive, so you never feel lost !
- its a big company with a diverse set of brands and people, which opens you up to a lot of experience.

- We can be very compliance driven, which sometimes feels to stifle creativity.
- we can be very slow to move as we are a big company.
