What are the best and worst things about your company?
MUFG is a great place to work at. One of the main advantages that comes along with a position at the firm is the huge growth potential. Compared to other banks, MUFG really provides you with the opportunity to take on responsibility from day one on and thrive within the organization. The advantage of taking on more responsibility from day one obviously comes at the cost that you'll have to cope with a lot of unknown variables. In short you'll learn a lot and experience a steep learning curve.

What are the best and worst things about your company?
I find that part of this job is very academically-driven in the sense that you constantly teach yourself about equity markets, individual stocks, and their valuations, and you apply those knowledge into everyday sales work by testing, pitching and debating about investment ideas, which are essentially theories with various assumptions behind them. In this regard, I've found the skill-sets I have developed during my university studies (Politics/PPE) to be very useful. I think this job is perfect for someone who is curious and has enjoyed academia as it is very research-intensive - the more you understand, the better you can pitch to your clients. Having the initiative is of course important, as you are expected to develop your own client networks as you mature into your role.

What are the best and worst things about your company?
The smaller size of the firm compared to competitors means that the level of responsibilty is unusually high for a graduate job and it is easier to gain a much broader understanding of different departments across the firm. There is noticably more exposure to senior managers as a result. The atmosphere of the office is a great feature of the job, as people are very friendly and it is actively encouraged that you can approach anyone and ask them questions. There is only very limited recruitment to front office roles and it is not uncommon for people to start working in middle office with the ultimate goal of moving to a sales or trading desk. Whilst it is a great aspect of the firm that this is possible, and does allow for a much wider exposure before specialising in a particular asset class, there is no guarantee if or when such a transition could happen.

What are the best and worst things about your company?
The people I work with are all lovely, everyone at the firm is welcoming and understanding. The organisation is comparatively small to the other investment banks however this provides a huge advantage in being able to get to know almost everyone in the firm.
