What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Really think about why you want to work in the public sector and research the various different models of local government which operate across the UK. Try to be aware of what local government actually does and the services it provides, as well as the challenges it faces and the main political discourses concerning its future.
Do you have any interview tips?
It could be useful to have a few examples of councils that are doing innovative work across the country and, of course, if you make it to interview, read up as much as possible about the council you're being interviewed for.
