What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Learn the acronym PRIDE (Putting members first, Rewarding Membership, Inspiring Trust, Excellent Customer Service) and try to think of examples of you exhibiting those characteristics for the interview (if you get there). I think it crops up on the application form as well.

Try to gain a small understanding of what a mutual rather than a PLC or Ltd is. A mutual is a company that is owned by it's members (Customers) rather than private shareholders. Nationwide is a mutual.

Try to big up and include in you application form/CV evidence of working in a team and if possible leading a team.

Do you have any interview tips?

When I had the interview in September last year, it consisted of:

A group exercise : We were given a business proposition that had 6 potential solutions and each group member had to argue for the one they were given. Basically you just have to listen to what others say and try to make relevant points. Don't fall into the trap of endlessly just arguing your point.

A one on one speaking exercise: After being given a business brief (mine was about fexible working from home) with two potential solutions we were given about half an hour to read the brief and to come up with which solution we'd choose.

A one on one interview: It covered the standard interview things.

A critical thinking test: standard
