Application Advice:

In my opinion, all candidates applying must make sure they are completely in-line with the company's values. If they are passionate about helping people and improving their lives - this is the place to be.
Also, doing a detailed research on the company and market would aid you in making sure this is the appropriate job for you and would also help you prove you are the right person for the role.

Interview Advice:

Having lots of examples helps a lot - being able to give examples of experience (from personal or professional situations) is very important.

Think about what you want in the future, and ask lots of questions about the company and role. Remember that you're interviewing them too!

Interview Advice:

Research - look at specialisms within the graduate scheme such as finance and lighting as these seem better!

Application Advice:

Be honest with yourself/application process and show your love of the brand.

Interview Advice:

Prepare carefully and familiarise yourself with the organisation, to whatever extent possible beforehand. Understanding, or at least making an effort to understand Philips can help make that critical difference.

Application Advice:

Research the segment of the company relevant to the area you are applying. Philips has 3 main segments (Lighting, Healthcare and Consumer Lifestyle) which are all very different.

Be enthusiastic on the assesment day and try to relax. Everyone really wants you to succeed and the environment reflects this - it is not a gruelling day at all!

Interview Advice:

If you are not successful in one area of the business, you may be right for another segment. If Philips sees talent, it will hold onto it!

Application Advice:

Philips is a popular company to work for and you need to be able to stand out in your application. Presentation of this is key so make sure your CV is clear and aligns to all the Philips behaviours of being eager to win, teaming up to excel and taking ownership. More information can be found on the website.

Interview Advice:

Be yourself - skills and a strong CV is great but you get your personality and enthusiasm across. Try to be informal whilst being formal.
Competency questions, as with any job, are asked.

Application Advice:

Be yourself, people here are very aware of how you behave, so you need to be yourself.
Be proud of what you have done, and use examples to show you have demonstrated these skills. The video interview is great - keep the answers to the point and make sure to leave your personal touch at the end in the 30 second slot you have to "add anything further".

Interview Advice:

Be yourself.
When presenting, tell a story that makes the presentation memorable to you. Interviewing against a lot of candidates means that the interviewers do not want to hear the same presentation said again and again.
NETWORK - Talk to everyone and get to know the company through the people.

Application Advice:

Obviously the organisation is looking for someone that can complete the role succesfully and so competency and ambition are key. But Philips also seemed to really value cultural fit and where my ambition would take me and whether the scheme had the potential to provide such aspirations. So my advice as outdated as it may be would be to relax and be yourself, judging your own fit to the organisation as much as trying to jam yourself into the gap.

Interview Advice:

There is a fairly relaxed atmosphere, and you shouldn't fear being overly intimidated. Show your most competent and polite side and you will be fine.

Application Advice:

Your future at Philips is secured if you are willing to work hard and you have a good personality to match. It is very culture driven and will require specific skills such as team work, taking ownership and being eager to win to drive your success in the company.

Interview Advice:

The graduate assessment centre was tough as expected for a big organisation. Group tasks, one to one interviews and a pre prepared presentation are what you are likely to come across.

Application Advice:

Match up the job specification with your CV. Make sure you can tick each box which Philips looks for in a graduate. Make yourself stand out from the rest. And above all buy into the Philips values, if you fit into the culture they’re more inclined to take you on.

Interview Advice:

Buy into the Philips values. Work hard, be proactive, do your research, know the market and listen to all the briefs you get given on the days of assessment.

Show an understanding of total Philips (Healthcare, Lighting and Consumer Lifestyle), as well as focusing on a particular area, explain why this is relevant to you and why it interests you. Candidates must be open to change and flexible as the programme involves constantly changing roles and adjusting to new environments.

Interview Advice:

Come prepared with questions, if they are answered, ask more questions! Be friendly, open and honest, experience is not necessary. It is the personality traits interviewers will focus on.

Application Advice:

I would suggest to anyone looking to apply for a role at Philips to be themselves, as often people in inteviews are very serious and don't let out their real personality which is vital when working here, they like strong people with creative and risky ideas, as well as someone who can get on well in a team.. that will definitely get you noticed.

Interview Advice:

Also be open and willing to learn, you have proved you are smart and intelligent from your degree.. but the drive and passion to want to learn about things you have never seen or done before will immediately make you are good candiate.

Think carefully about what sort of role you would like to work in as there are such a large number of roles available. Obviously within the graduate scheme you rotate within different parts of the business which gives you a great all rounded knowledge of the business, but think about what industry you are passionate about and enjoy and research and gain knowledge about those areas, that will come across in your interview and show serious and keen candidates that want to work for philips against those who are just simply going for a job interview.

Application Advice:

Make sure your CV is accurate and contains true information.
Put a lot of effort into writing your covering letter and ensure that it is tailored to the company; try to show how passionate you are about working at Philips.

Interview Advice:

Be yourself as people interviewing you are very smart and very experienced and they will know when you are pretending.
Ask questions to show interest in the company.
Do extensive research on both the company itself but also on the sector/environment it operates in.

Application Advice:

1st Stage: Application
2nd Stage: Written Test
3rd Stage: Online testing
4th Stage: Video Interview
5th Stage: Assessment Day

All stages require you to do research and give tailored responses so go the extra mile by showing you care about the role and the company. The Philips journey needs graduates who are active by taking ownership, teaming up to excel and being eager to win. Demonstrate these behaviours for success through all stages.

Interview Advice:

Be yourself, Philips want to hire you for being YOU! They are interested in genuine people who like to make an impact through commitment and professionalism. There are a handful of tasks that an applicant will be asked to perform/complete on the assessment day, so be prepared and do a lot of research behind the transformation, its impact and where Philips aims to be in the next 3 years.

Application Advice:

Research the company! Although 99% of people think of TVs when you say Philips, they don't even actually make TVs anymore. Make sure you know what the company does and what challenges it is facing (and if applying to a finance position know some of the financials), as well as making sure you address all the criteria they are looking for in your application.

Interview Advice:

Relax! Philips puts a lot of emphasis on people skills and different behaviours which they look out for at interviews. Every other candidate in the room will be more than qualified to do the job, so it's more about how you work and get along with people rather than what you know.
