What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Be honest. Identify in yourself areas for improvement and expand on this by explaining how you have a keen interest in developing yourself to begin a long career with the bank. The bank will invest in you and give you the tools to build your career, they just need to see that you are someone who will take full advantage.

Do not be afraid to confront the difficulties the bank has faced. RBS is trying to change for the better and they need people who are fully aware of past failings to ensure we do not make the mistakes again.

Do you have any interview tips?

If you don't know something, say so. They will see through you if you try to blag it, instead ask questions and try to learn whilst you're there. Take notes. Ask plenty of questions around career development. Look up the bank's visions for 2020 and relate it to your own personal values.
