Job Review
Graduate Physicist/ Scientist, Laser Calibration at Renishaw
at Renishaw

What are the best and worst things about your job? Best:
The enormous variation in the projects you can be working on keep the work fresh, as well as a brilliant work-life balance.
Worst:
Renishaw's a great employer so loads of people have been working there for 20-30 years. As such, people are very stuck in their ways and unwilling to change/adapt. Products have lifespans of 20+ years in some departments with vast numbers of problems throughout the product lifetime.
What is the annual salary for this role? Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000
Current salary: £25,000 - £27,000
What hours do you actually work, on average?
07:30 - 16:15
What advice would you give to someone applying to this role? Application Advice: If applying to physics grad scheme, brush up on basic physics knowledge e.g. the principles of interferometry & laser physics. Normally interviewers are looking for someone that has a decent level of real world physics/ engineering intuition with a little background knowledge.
Interview Advice: Possible phone interview leading to an assessment day. Assessment day has a group assessment where you solve an engineering style problem in a team and then a face to face interview with 2 engineers.

Quite relaxed interview process but do a bit of rough research about the company and the industry that they're in.
