Promote your whole self, not just the academic side of you. A lot of employers are looking for people who bring more to the job than just their qualifications.
Do you have any interview tips?
There wasn't a common set of questions I got asked when interviewing for these positions, generally I was asked a range of problems and how I would go about solving them.
There was also some basic coding problems and I had to present a 15 minute talk and then answer questions on my thesis work.
