What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Think seriously about whether you are willing to have an unpredictable work schedule for your whole career. Working until 8pm may not sound late but when that is an average day, when you might not be allowed to take bank holidays or when you are expected to check your work blackberry all weekend it can quickly seem like all you do is work. If you don't really enjoy law and really want to work for an international firm then look for options at smaller firms. The pay may not be as good but you will get more responsibility, more credit and more time to spend outside of the office!
Do you have any interview tips?
Know your CV inside out and expect to be questioned on it. Your level of knowledge about the firm is tested throughout the application process so do thorough research before hand and make sure you are up to date on big news stories, including financial news so that you have something to talk about on the way to the interview room or know what the interviewer is referring to.
