What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

I applied to Skanska despite having very little site experience - all my work experience had been with civil engineering consultancies rather than contractors however, this was not a limiting factor as I got the job. The application process was an online application followed by online tests. I then had a skype interview with one of the HR team, followed by a day at an assessment centre. The assessment centre runs from December, so I would encourage you to apply early.

Do you have any interview tips?

At the assessment centre we had a number of activities throughout the day. There was a group of about 10 applicants and another 10 people from within the company. We started off with an introduction to Skanska, the work and values. We then had individual interviews, followed by a chance to prepare a presentation. We then had to present to all the company representatives, and then finished off the day with a group exercise.
