What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
If you enjoy a challenge and hold a strong work ethic with a passion for business and numbers then buying is ideal. You have to be able to take responsibility for your decisions and know your category and the industry as best you can to help you make the right decisions. Confidence with numbers and reporting helps but you have to obtain the right attitude and work as a team to achieve success.
There is a high level of responsibility with the role but an equally high level of job satisfaction.
Ensure you include all relevant work experience in your application but more so what skills you have gained and developed.
Do you have any interview tips?
Do your research on the company, visit your local store and take note of what stands out to you most on a particular area and how you view it as a customer. for example is it easy to shop, price mix, vs. competitors etc. Most of all don't get bogged down on the day on what is right and wrong just make sure your personaility shows and that you are willing to work hard and progress within the company.
