Application Advice:
I originally applied for the Graduate Development Programme - the application procedure was much the same as any other graduate scheme. However getting to the assessment centre showed that Catlin is actually quite different from other graduate schemes. My advice woud be to just be yourself, think of the stream you are applying for and why you want to apply for it (tip: 'beacause I couldn't think of a reason not to' is not an advisable answer).
If people were applying for my currently role (which is now based in Poland), I would advise that that person be flexible, proactive and approachable. These qualities are very much needed in my current role, they are also desirable qualities for the Development Programme as well.
Interview Advice:
Catlin really does work and operate by its core values, they are not just there for show. This is very important in the application process.

Examples of 5 values.
Interview Advice:
Other examples than those used in application. Be yourself. Catlin like 'Catlin People' so that is more likely to get you in, in my experience than being amazingly clever etc... Certainly by the interview stage.

Application Advice:
The company recieves a huge number of applications in proportion to it's size. Ensure that you stand out. In most of the cases I've seen the deciding factor between technically excellent and intelligent candidates is their alignment with the company values and the perception as to how well they will 'fit' in the company.
Interview Advice:
Be relaxed and genuine, and make sure that you can back up your points with real examples. The interviews don't differ too much from most other interviews, and they won't be including lots of hypothetical 'how many piano tuners are there in France?' type tests

Do your research - Catlin puts a lot of weight on its core values and how they fit into the company on a day to day basis. Make sure you also do some research on the industry and how Catlin plays a part in it.
Interview Advice:
Don't go crazy with preparations for the techinical rounds and assessment centres, there's not much you can do before you get there! They ultimately just want to see how you think and whether you'd fit in. Don't worry too much about coming across as nervous, they'll be expecting it, but make sure you don't let your nerves take over.

Application Advice:
I'd suggest candidates who are considering applying to Catlin research the values Catlin prize. Transparency, Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity and Dignity are at the core of everything we do at Catlin and it is really important that candidates assess these values and think about whether Catlin is a firm they want to be involved with.
Furthermore I'd suggest that candidates research our placement in the market and how we got there in our short history. It would also be worth gathering information about our plans for expansion and the opportunities this may bring - whilst I think a growing organisation is an exciting one to be part of it is worth considering for potential candidates.
Interview Advice:
- Competency based questions are the main body but the assessment centre involves a variety of challenges.
- Research the business, be prepared to give examples of any competencies you have and ensure you know your own CV and can speak confidently abou
