What are the best and worst things about your job?

Whenever you get a project you can work on. It had already been completed, but there was no carbon output for it. In this case I did my own research, found assets, did the calculation, put it all nicely into a PP that was similar to a project storyboard, but for carbon. In it I explained the construction work, got to compare and contrast the different results I got from different Excel tools and generally which assets/decisions made the largest carbon contribution. Anything team related outside of the usual office I also love to attend, going on site etc. In my case the job security also seems to be ok, as I am learning to work in water, sustainability and data. None of those which will disappear any time soon I hope.

What are the best and worst things about your job?
My team is very friendly and happy to help me with different tasks I am trying to do. The very limited times I have been in to the office it has seemed really lovely and a nice work atmosphere. Even though teams do not typically mix, I have been able to talk to people in the other teams in the department and have all been friendly and nice to have a chat with. Being a woman in STEM, quite often there is a huge gender gap in the organisation, but outside of my immediate team, most of the department seems to be really well mixed. Read more

The role is very varied meaning I have learnt a large amount quite quickly within different parts of the underwriting process. This was ideal as I was starting out in my career. I also get to work with both operations and underwriting teams meaning I have a large circle of communication within the company which I enjoy. The work is challenging for me which I enjoy as it keeps me motivated, but there is a chain of support for me so that I can ask for advise when I need it, be that from my line-manager of colleagues. The company atmosphere has been so friendly sand welcoming which has made joining Chaucer stress-free and enjoyable.
