Application Advice:
Take time when answering any written assessment questions. This could be the difference of you getting an interview or not. You are likely to do an some type of assessment during the application process. The assessments aren't necessarily hard. They are just testing to see you have basic maths and literacy skills. You won't need to do anything to prepare for them.
Interview Advice:
Show examples of what experience you have even if it's not relevant to the job. Try and make the interview seem more like a conversation than an interview so the interviewers can see what you are really liked. Interviewers aren't expecting you to know everything about the company or the job. They just want to see that you're interested in working there by asking you questions about the company and job.

Application Advice:
Demonstrate that you're competent at maths.
Show that you can write well.
Don't try and pretend that you understand DB pensions in cover letter just because you've googled a few industry terms. If you're a graduate you almost certainly don't.
Interview Advice:
Ask questions of the interviewers, and try to remember their names if possible.
Look up some news stories about pensions that you can talk about (pensions dashboard is almost certainly the best one to go for).

Application Advice:
Often loads of applications are necessary to secure interviews, never mind a role - from personal experience I found I was far more likely to get to interview stage if there was no video interview so perhaps look into the steps of an application and prioritise the ones which give you the best chance.
Interview Advice:
Make sure you know why you want a job within that specific sector of the industry and are able to articulate this when asked so interviewers can recognise that you are truly interested in the role you are interviewing for.

Interview Advice:
Be honest, don't try and second guess what the interviewer wants to hear. The interviewers are normal people so just be yourself. There's no sense in lying and finding out further down the line that it isn't the right fit (that works both ways).

Application Advice:
1. Make sure that your CV is up to date indicating some of the things you have done under each position that you had - for example:
worked at a teaching assistant:
- developed my leadership skills by working closely with other teaching assistants to share tasks (this shows teamwork skills)
if you dont have any paid experience you can use volunteering experience.
2. Be truthful about your self and experiences
Interview Advice:
Use STAR technique to answer any questions the interviewer might ask :
for example :
Situation : when I was at uni of leicester during my masters degree
Task: I had to work with team to create ...
Action : as part of the team I decided to create a list of actions (this shows organisation skills)
Result: as a result we managed to get a high mark for that module.

Interview Advice:
Think about what you want to do and ask questions on what work you would like to get involved in. Be knowledgeable on the industry and what professional qualifications and study/exam requirements are there.
Think it more of a chat and make sure you show your personality and how you can fit in to the team; show your communication and interpersonal skills.

Application Advice:
Try to stay relaxed during the online tests and work quickly. Be honest in all stages or it will most likely catch up with you. When applying for a graduate role, companies don't necessarily expect you to know everything but as long as it you have a willingness to learnt that's what they look for.
Interview Advice:
Definitely do your research before the interview. Make sure to prepare answers regarding to why you want to work in that industry and company, giving examples of times you work within a team, a time you failed at something, overcame something difficult. Have some technical knowledge of the pensions industry and know what's going on in the world.
