Application Advice:
Only apply if you wish to be a shop floor manager for a very long time before any chance for progression. There are a long line of commercial managers who wish to get into Head Office roles, but applications are often blocked by regional managers to prevent losing good managers. Thus, it can be very difficult to progress beyond shop floor management.

Application Advice:
It is hard work but will be worth it after your training year. Retail experience is useful if you don't have a related degree.
Interview Advice:
Put yourself out there. You won't get noticed for being quiet and sitting at the back. Give the examiners something to remember you by. Have a personality, not just purely work related.

Its all about being able to deal with and manage people as they will ultimately achieve what you want to deliver. Don't get too caught up in worrying about the technical training side of things as this will come easily.

Application Advice:
Take your time and don't rush, when it comes to the psychometric testing, do some online example questions so you know what to expect.
Interview Advice:
Be yourself and do your research, learn as much about the company and link that to practical experiences you have previously which can then be linked to the business competencies. Finally be prepared, the interview is around the business competencies. Come up with an example for each one you can talk about. Linking them together where possible.

M&S likes to see variety in your experience, whether it be sports, university, jobs or voluntary work. Be confident and sell yourself!
Interview Advice:
I was asked in the interview about times I had to overcome difficult situations. This does not only refer to previous jobs, any sort of life experience you have had. Be yourself and don't be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat the question.
