Application Advice:

Do not take any specifics as absolute as the hiring team is often misinformed of the role. Also be prepared to change technology, move and be deployed at the drop of a hat, otherwise I wouldn't advice applying at all.

Interview Advice:

Ask plenty of specific questions, as the recruitment team is often misinformed. The best people to get information from are the trainers attending an assessment day. Also assessment days are held almost weekly so do not be pressured into attending one immediately.

With someone from a background with no experience what so ever in Resourcing, recruiting or sales.

Personally I really like the challenge, definitely good if you want to get out of what you know and experience something new. If you do have experience, QA is a fantastic company to be a part of the atmosphere is great really motivates you, the teams are fantastic always willing to help. There is a lot to learn but it helps you to be a better resource, so bring it on.

Interview Advice:

Highlight computing and programming experience on CV.

Interview Advice:

Learn Java to a level of writing basic programs (say maths functions etc).
Don't act like you know more then you do. They'll respond better to honest ignorance then stupid incorrect answers.

Also the interviews test how well you work with others. Don't try throwing others under the bus.

Application Advice:

As always with applying to any role in this field, you want to make sure that you show that you are self-motivated and self-driven to learn new skills, technological and communicative. That means that while applying, try to think of a project(s) to work that require the skills listed on your resume, along with other skills that you are trying to learn. With QA specifically, be prepared for a very interesting assessment day that may take you out of your comfort zone.

Interview Advice:

Application Advice:

Those coming from a computing background should be expected to show a strong understanding of Object Orientated Programming principles. Any final year projects from University or any major project you've worked on will also aid you greatly as long as it demonstrates your capability as a programmer.

Those not coming from a computing background (maths, science etc..) should still study up a little on OOP principles but there's no major setback if you aren't able to demonstrate your programming knowledge well.

Regardless of background, if you are invited to an assessment day, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to teamwork with others under pressure as well as presenting your outcomes towards an audience.

Interview Advice:

If you have mentioned your final year project or any major work you've done, you will be asked to talk about it in detail.

You will be asked about specifics in OOP, so demonstrate your knowledge in understanding the concepts such as abstraction and encapsulation.
