Application Advice:

Scheme management seems to value employees who are flexible in terms of location and role - so be prepared to be placed in quite an eclectic range of roles and emphasise how agile you are.

Interview Advice:

Make sure you know about a few things happening in the telecoms industry that you are able to talk about - e.g. what key players are doing, challenges, opportunities, and technology developments.

Application Advice:

Apply early, try network with current graduates/employees before submitting an application

Interview Advice:

Be honest and make sure you know the company's values

Application Advice:

Be yourself - the process is more relaxed than it is in financial services, it's more important that you are relaxed, friendly, and representing your true self.

Interview Advice:

Look at the company values (there are four) and really demonstrate those. The assessment centre consists of an individual task, a group task and an individual interview.

Application Advice:

Research the role and company thoroughly, be honest and positive in line with the company's ethos and values.

Interview Advice:

Be yourself, it shows when you are not.

Understand the company and how you can contribute to the role and wider organisation, ask yourself if the company and role is for you as well as if you are for them, this helps in formulating your responses and allows you to gain a wider perspective.

Application Advice:

Make sure to research the company and tell as much about yourself as you can (without using cliche sentences, make sure the application reflects you, your background and your personality and doesn't really follow structures from CV/application advice websites).

Interview Advice:

Don't tell the interviewers what you think they'd want to hear. If you make a mistake in your presentations don't try to cover it up but instead, focus on how you can avoid the mistake later on and how you could fix it.

Interview Advice:

Application Advice:

Don't be afraid of relocating. It was my main reason for hesitation, but I took the plunge and haven't looked back.

Interview Advice:

Believe in your answers, not everyone is right. Believe in the reason you're there, don't let the status of others affect your confidence.

Technology Graduate, Technology & Innovation at Liberty Global

Application Advice:

Be open and honest in the application process, and don't be afraid to be ballsy. As long as you can back up your strengths with evidence, there is no harm in being confident.

Interview Advice:

Plenty of eye contact. Prepare your achievements and failures, and especially remember how you learned from your failures and what steps you have taken to ensure they will not be repeated. Ensure you are honest as well, this will go a long way.

Application Advice:

Really research the company and especially the industry in advance of the video interview stage as some of the questions you need to have a lot of knowledge to be able to answer.

Interview Advice:

Do your research on the company before the interview, especially on the values they are looking for and keep these in mind with all the questions they ask. Think about why you like the sound of the role and the company in particular, why finance etc.

Interview Advice:

Be confident and enthusiastic. Do some further research on the company and their current projects.

Application Advice:

Check the news and not only the company website. LG has gone through a very dynamic year, so try to have as many sources as possible, it will come handy when discussing the company position in the current market environment.

Interview Advice:

When preparing and discussing the business case, focus less on getting the numbers 100% right and more on having a solid story to tell. Explaining the reasoning behind the numbers is more relevant than the numbers themselves.

Application Advice:

Use your wording carefully - show in your examples how you took a leadership role in previous experiences.
Keywords: lead, inspired, motivated, encouraged, initiative etc.

Interview Advice:

Be open about your successes and failures. If you come in all guns blazing claiming how amazing you are then you won't get the job. Be humble about your previous experiences but use them to highlight what you learnt and how you'd approach that failure differently in the future.
ASK QUESTIONS to the interviewer, they want to know you're interested. Try asking them what the main challenges are in the telco industry or in their departments.

Application Advice:

Prepare well, research the organisation along with all the operating companies it owns in all its markets. Be yourself, don't tell the interviewers what you think they want to hear, tell what you think and feel.

Interview Advice:

Same as the application advice. Come prepared to answer tougher questions (you don't necessarily need to prepare a lot in advance, just bear in mind the interviewers may ask more difficult questions in advance just to see how you can handle them).
