Be as honest as you can and make sure you answer each question in depth so that the HR team can gain a strong understanding of who you are. Make sure you do your research about Redrow and keep up to date on the latest news regarding UK housebuilding and planning updates.

Interview Advice:

After the online application process, you may be asked to attend an assessment centre. Here you will be asked to engage in group activities with other applicants so make sure you do your research so that you are well equipped. Don't let others in the room overshadow you. This doesn't mean you have to have the loudest voice in the room, but you should be confident, engaging, personable and make sure others know of your presence. Stay relaxed, confident and composed. Allow others to see the best in you.

Application Advice:

I would recommend that you read the graduate blog as this provides insight to what a graduate gets up to.

I would also recommend looking at both the corporate website ( https://www.redrowplc.co.uk/ ) as well as the consumer website ( https://www.redrow.co.uk/ ).

Key areas to look at include:

- Customer Service
- Quality
- House Types
- The Redrow Story

Interview Advice:

The best thing about the Redrow interview is you can be yourself.

They actually want to know what you are like as a person and if you will be a good fit in terms of being able to work in a team and as an individual.

Being able to deal with customers is becoming a core skill within the business.

Application Advice:

This is a practical on site role. You will spend all of your time working out of a site office and will be dealing with problems on site. This is a challenging construction role, not an office job.

Interview Advice:

It is important to ask what you will be doing day to day as this is not what people expect from the role. Ask about the mileage you will be covering to and from work. Ask about professional development through gaining MCIOB.

Application Advice:

Redrow appreciate someone who can bring diversity to the table and the ability to share opinions.

Application Advice:

Its a pretty relaxed application process in my honest opinion compared to other companies that I applied for.

Redrow is committed to training you, that's why they do not hesitate about taking on graduates with degrees that aren't construction related, if they can see that you have the ability to work hard and learn.

They stress the importance of taking on people with genuine enthusiasm for the industry, with the ability to work in a team and people who can influence and lead.

In short its a cliché, be yourself and be confident.

Interview Advice:

Very relaxed interview, I wasn't grilled on any particular subject but its always good to prepare yourself by being up to date on your industry knowledge.

But Redrow prefer to interview after the assessment centre which is different to other house builders. At the interview stage they want to get to know you and get a sense about whether you would suit that office.

Application Advice:

Always be open minded; the job is so varied for the first two years and you will gain so much exposure. You have to give it your all and wherever that takes you is meant to be and you will have a great background knowledge.

Interview Advice:

Learn about the company, not just the product but the culture. Redrow invest in people and you want to show that you are worth investing in and that you would be a good cultural fit. Essentially, you want to show that you have a good work ethic and a positive attitude to both internal and external customers as well as your colleagues.

Application Advice:

Relationships are key.

Whilst it is always important that you have performed academically and have secured relevant sector work experience; the corporate/business world is built on people. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to get along with colleagues and make good first impressions.

Interview Advice:

Do your homework on the company.

Search for any recent press publications/announcements. Have a broad understanding of the different sectors the business is involved in. Look through LinkedIn at the people currently working for the company to gauge if you are a similar mould of person.

At the interview, just go for it. Really put everything on the line and let your enthusiasm/personality shine through.

Best:

There is an exciting future ahead at Redrow and at the divisional office that I am based in with ambitious growth plans. You get the feeling that you're going to be part of a bright future with the management team recognizing the need to grow the business responsibly and organically, but at the same time being ambitious and prioritizing the delivery of a premium product.

The opportunity to progress upwards seems like a real opportunity here, and I feel if I work hard this will be recognized.

Worst:

At the moment, not being challenged but this is short term, I know once I've completed my rotations and I'm in a position of responsibility this will change.

In comparison to other companies the pay is the lowest, but again after promotion off the scheme I understand that this will change.

I believe there is room for improvement with communication in the business and also office locations are not ideal, I would prefer an office based in a town centre as opposed to a business park.
