Interview Advice:

Be friendly, confident and be yourself. Show your enthusiasm for the industry and TJX and think about what you could bring to benefit the company. E.g., one question asked was what product/brand would you bring to TK Maxx/ Homesense to bring excitement and drive sales.

Application Advice:

Apply with confidence if you search for a fast induction in the tourism industry, if you have the consultant mind-set and skills and if you aim for a fast career progression. Though I would advise not to apply if you're in a money hunt type of job search. Significant rewards are offered more through non-financial means.

Interview Advice:

Be authentic, precise and sociable. Arrogance and stubborness are not appreciated and can become a detractor even if you pass the interview.

Highlight work experience, international mobility and adaptibility. All are principal virtues sought over pure academic excellence (though still important)

Interview Advice:

Don't try to give an answer you think people want to hear or be too clever. They are looking for people who have the ability to get on with collegues and form working relationships in a very short time (your assignments are 3 months each). Being genuine and sharp but not overly confrontational is key to getting things done.

Best:

They support both vertical and horizontal movements, so it's not just "up or out" like other very competitive workplaces.

Worst:

Benefits are lacking. During the program, there is a travel bonus and Christmas bonus which is nice, plus they pay into a private pension during the 18 months, but not all full-time employees enjoy these benefits. When you get higher up, there are some cars and phones involved along with a few travel discounts but not as glamorous as working in tourism might sound.
