Interview Advice:

Knowing the floor-care market would help. How to differentiate Vax from it's competitors and having a list of ideas that could help improve the company would be an advantage in an interview. You should also be prepared to be asked why you have chosen Vax as an organisation to want to work for and be able to share examples of how you can work independently and as part of a team.

Make sure you know as much company information as possible, and can portray working examples of why you would be good for the job. I found their was no issue with taking in a notebook with all the things I wished to say, so that I wouldn't forget any points. And having prepared questions beforehand I found was helpful.

Try to relax the interview for me wasn't as grueling when compared to ones I'd had with other other companies. You won't be made to feel uncomfortable at any point.

Make sure your CV is up to date and that your reference(s) show you in the most positive light possible. My application was done through LinkedIn, so my CV and references were already listed on my site. Read the job role you're applying for thoroughly - make sure you know what you're getting yourself in for.

Interview Advice:

Prepare yourself:
- Research the company thoroughly (I found out some interesting facts from doing this that I was able to mention during my interview).
- Choose 3-5 questions to ask the person/people that will interview you on the day.
- Consider the types of questions that you'll be asked on the day
- Highlight the job role details and try to remember each one.

During my interview I was asked where I see myself in 3 years time - Make sure to mention where you see yourself within their company. I was also asked various questions to do with previous work I'd created and how these skills link to their company and the job role I was applying for.

Research the company and its key values. They really look for people who are passionate and have a fun personality, particularly as they pride themselves on having a fun and family style working environment.

Interview Advice:

Many gradaute roles are recruited through assessment days which are quite challenging.. You will have to be prepared to do a presentation, various groupwork tasks and maybe a negotiation exercise. I would also recommend talking to as many Vax employees on the day as you possibly can, as everyone helping out with the day will provide feedback on candidates.

Be honest about your abilities and your downfalls - it helps to say what you hope to achieve, not just what you have already.
Let your personality show in your application.
Include a cover letter that does not come across as generic.
Carefully study the duties and responsibilities and include key words in your application with reasoning so it shows you've thought about it and chosen Vax not simply applied.
Demonstrate commitment and a long term plan with Vax.

Prepare well for competency based questions and predominately use recent examples that closely relate to the role you're interviewing for.
Express high interest in the duties /responsibilities - implies a long term plan to be in that role (or similar).
Avoid repeating yourself as it will appear you are unsure of yourself and your application.
Research into Vax so it shows it's more than just a job you’re going for -it’s the whole package - drop in key words that show you have done your homework.
Relax and be comfortable, in both conversation and body language - as it can predict how you will fit in within the Vax community if you just be yourself
