Job Description

Our industrial placements are for a period of six to 12 months, during which, you will have the opportunity to work within one of our sectors.
We have placements still available in the following areas:
Economic & Social Development team
Our specialist Economic & Social Development (ESD) team works to aid understanding of the impacts, benefits and dis-benefits that may arise from policy, infrastructure, service reconfiguration and transport interventions.  The team works across the UK on a broad range of projects; it also undertakes international assignments.  The team has two positions available:
Economics – Liverpool or Manchester who focus on economic impact assessments, five-case business cases, spatial development and economic planning, infrastructure funding, and transit-oriented development. Typical degrees include: Economics, business management, economic development, urban planning
Social – Birmingham or London who focus on equalities impact assessments, integrated impact assessments, social research, social impact assessments, market research, evaluation, consultation and engagement. Typical degrees include: Social – Sociology, social development, politics, history or related research-based degree.
Landscape architecture- Cambridge, Leeds or London our award-winning landscape and urban design practice create memorable and site specific landscapes for people and places. A key element in their approach is understanding the environment, its physical attributes and cultural context. This combined with embracing of innovative and informed design approaches, contributes to the creation of unique spaces on an international basis. This team is looking for specific landscape architecture degrees.
Architecture – Glasgow there is an opportunity for an Architectural Part 1 to join this busy team to complete a wide variety of project type delivery. Work would include preparation of CAD drawings in Revit and AutoCAD under the supervision of a qualified architect. This team is looking for architectural degrees.
Aviation- Croydon We’re one of the world’s most experienced aviation consultancies. We provide aviation advisory services to governments, civil aviation authorities, airport companies, equity investors and providers of debt finance so there really is no better place to start your career. Typical degrees include: airport planning or management, air transport management, economics, finance or business-related degrees.
Electrical engineering- Belfast or Glasgow our electrical engineers work in world class teams to design and deliver sustainable solutions. The Belfast team is focused on building services and sustainability. Join them and you’ll be involved in overseeing the installation of necessities such as power, lighting, fire systems and security. Typical degrees include electrical engineering, building services engineering specialising in electrical, power systems engineering or architectural engineering. The Glasgow team is focus on transmission and distribution, and power engineering.

Candidate Specification

To join us for an industrial trainee placement you must currently be at University or looking for a pre-university placement.
You will be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so a placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.
We do not have a formal structure for our placements, so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain from your experience with us.

As well as having one of the specific degrees listed above, we are looking for students with the following characteristics:
·       Methodical approach to problem solving
·       Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
·       Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
·       Excellent written communication and attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
