We provide learning opportunities in each area of our Exposure Management team, through structured on-thejob training, technical briefings, professional education courses and self-study – You will also receive our full support and guidance towards achieving your Level 6 Senior Insurance Professional apprenticeship standard which incorporates the ACII qualification – Our HR team will be with you at every step, and will help set up your very own Personal and Professional Development Plan – You’ll get an in-house experienced buddy and mentor, to help show you the ropes

Our unique programme in more detail

24 months of opportunities, practical knowledge and experience. That’s how you’ll be empowered to excel during our programme. And – you’re welcome to call it your programme. After all, it’ll be tailored to meet your needs, depending on what best helps you develop. You’ll be placed with the Exposure Management team, which helps the business measure and understand the accumulation of exposure, and what losses could occur as a result of catastrophic events. If you don’t fully understand this now, don’t worry. Our proven approach will give you an in-depth understanding of how we manage our catastrophe risks, as well as providing you with a good understanding of all areas of the company, including the classes of business that are underwritten. Don’t yet know anybody in the industry? You soon will, as we’ll give you lots of opportunities to develop a network of contacts within Chaucer and the market. This is just the beginning of your journey, and there are lots of exciting prospects ahead.

Your future specialisms

Property & Specialty Modelling You’ll provide catastrophe modelling and exposure accumulation analysis at an account and portfolio level, assisting the underwriters’ risk selection process. Classes of business managed by Exposure Management include Property (Re)insurance, Energy, Marine, Cyber and Political Violence.

Exposure Analytics Monitoring and making regulatory reporting to Lloyd’s, PRA and other bodies. The Exposure Analytics team are also responsible for catastrophe event response and giving our non-modelled view of risk.

Portfolio Analytics Here, your work will involve measuring the accumulation of exposure and potential modelled losses at a portfolio level. Your responsibilities will include setting and monitoring appropriate underwriting risk appetites and providing the tools to manage gross and net exposures across the business.

Research & Development By adopting and validating appropriate catastrophe risk models, this area is responsible for forming our view of catastrophe risk.

You have: A minimum 2.2 degree – 3 or more A-Levels – ideally one in Maths (A-C) – GCSE Maths and English – minimum grade B – Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel – An unrestricted right to work in the UK
