Application Advice:

The application process isn't as daunting as other firms however that doesn't mean that they aren't looking for specific criteria.
You need to be team player - after all Knight Frank are a partnership, so emphasise team sports you have been a part of, networking events you have attended etc. If you have had a Saturday job - show it in your CV, whilst you may not think this is looked at, it really is - it demonstrates time management and that you are willing to work hard from a young age. At the same time, if you haven't worked or have limited experience, don't worry - talk about your travelling, university etc. and what you have learnt along the way.

Interview Advice:

Show a genuine interest in property - the interviewers can tell if you aren't telling the truth. When asked about certain properties, don't just choose the ones that Knight Frank have been involved in - go for something that has caught your attention as you will be able to speak openly and confidently about this.
Residual valuations, the current market and the economy more often than not come up as a topic questions - you need to show commercial awareness and that you know current trends in the industry, for example the effect of the extra 3% stamp duty coming into practice in April 2016.
Knight Frank look at you as a person so be yourself and relax, if you know your passion and are confident about property then show this off. Lastly, make sure you know the values of Knight Frank and who the senior partner is!

Interview Advice:

Be yourself!! I think a lot of people applying for jobs within this industry and outside of it feel like they have to give a certain answer in order to be accepting into the business however, I think that being honest when asked questions comes across very well. At the end of the day the interview process (certainly part of it) is to let them see what sort of person you are and not what sort of person you think they want to see.

Application Advice:

As the application is only your personal information and a CV, you need to ensure that this is up to date and to the point. I think that the CV needs to be clear, bullet pointed and not too much text as HR have thousands of them to go through so you want to make it stand out!
Also make sure that you have a good amount of work experience within different sectors to show you are willing to work hard and are passionate about working in property.

Interview Advice:

I think that any candidate applying to this role needs to make sure that they are well prepared and really know Knight Frank as a firm. When they are interviewing they say that they want to see passion when the candidate is speaking - and I think this is the key.
I found that the best way for me to prepare was to type out any question I could think of, such as 'Why do you want to work at Knight Frank' and type an answer for every question. This meant that when I was asked a question I already had a clear answer in my head and could also relate it to past work and life experience.

Application Advice:

Show you're a true 'people person'. You might be client facing from Day 1, so it's imperative the company can put you in front of the client.

There are plenty of people who could simply do the work of a Knight Frank graduate, what sets them apart is being able to interact in a team, quickly adapt to new situations and manage multiple streams of work. If you can do all that, and you're a likeable person, you are off to a great start.

Interview Advice:

Prepare! Make sure you know about what the company is up to, use every opportunity before the interview (Milkround etc) to find out as much as you can about the company.

Be confident in yourself, though not cocky.

Application Advice:

The Graduate Scheme is very selective but always tend to be focused towards skills in key areas as much of our business is agency related (candidates with ambition, personability, excellent social skills, good academic credentials and practical experience seem to do well).

On this basis, do try and focus on getting experience to prove you have the above skills. KF internships particularly. Focus less on academic ability - everyone has the same degree and is equally qualified to do the job.

If you don't get in and have an interest and ability in the more periphery services we offer, it is worth contacting the relevant staff in these areas - additional positions are frequently available.
