What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

The people. I am yet to meet a single person I do not like or who is not willing to help me progress and achieve what I want to achieve throughout my apprenticeship. There is a wonderful support network available.

Worst

It is hard to think of the 'worst' thing but for me the most challenging thing to adapt to has been the size of the business as it can keep you very busy and you must be organised in order to keep up with commitments from all areas. This, however, is manageable after a short while in the apprenticeship.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £17,000 - £19,000

Current salary: £17,000 - £19,000

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

There are various stages of the application and all you can do at each stage is be completely honest and be yourself. Take the application stages as a chance to get to know the business more before you begin; there are interactives tasks throughout the application process which really allow you to get a feel for what your daily job could entail. My biggest piece of advice is try not to answer questions how you think DHL want them to be answered because this will just make your application boring and one in hundreds that they receive. Be yourself and make yourself stand out.

Do you have any interview tips?

My interview was slightly different to usual as it was virtual due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19. The final application stage is the interview (or assessment centre/day). By this point you would have completed a couple of different virtual tests. My assessment day had three stages, there was a group task, an individual interview and then an individual role play situation. I was most nervous about the role play, however, it is best just to throw yourself into it otherwise you can come across nervous or shy. Be prepared for there to be a lot of assessors (I believe there were about 10 interviews four of us) however, just remember everyone is human and therefore, there really is nothing to worry about. It went by really quickly and it may seem daunting but it really isn't!
