What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

- Great starting salary for grads, assuming you're in London. Pay scales are determined by length of service, so if you manage to stick around you'll get a rise in the new year.
- If you're lucky, you'll get a great co worker as your other centre manager.
- Seeing the kids have those 'lightbulb' moments, where they finally get a new concept or master a tricky skill.

Worst

- Because the centres are individually managed, you may wind up with a manager who isn't sure what they're doing, or isn't following guidelines to the letter. This can cause problems down the line.
- In-centre management is divided into 4 main categories of responsibility, one of which is sales. I would argue that pressure from upper management makes it more like 75% sales.
- Be wary of centres that are run on the dual management model. It often feels like there truly aren't enough hours in the day, and you'll spend the majority of your week working alone. HO also doesn't adjust any goals or expectations, so you'll be doing 2 people's work on your own.
- Really unsociable working hours. You might think you're ok with the Tues-Sat work weekend 8pm finishes, but think really carefully.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £25,000 - £27,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 11:00

Finish: 20:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Start with an awesome cover letter! There's several phases to the interview, but Explore actually do read your cover letter and will ask you questions, so make sure it's relevant, but also gives them a good idea of who you are.

Do you have any interview tips?

You'll have an in-person interview or online interview depending on location, majority being in-person now. This will be with the centre manager and regional manager, likely both of whom you'll be working with closely if you get the job! They're not expecting you to know everything off the bat, but you will need to think on your feet with scenario questions, and to give your opinion on the centre environment/how it runs etc.
