What are the Best and Worst things about your job?
Best
The company benefits, work-life balance and the chance to learn shoulder to shoulder with experienced engineers. Everyone I've worked with has been very helpful and reciprocate any enthusiasm you have for your work.
Worst
The job can require a certain degree of flexibility which may be uncomfortable for some people. The environment can at times be quite fast paced and urgent which while good for learning can be quite tiring
What is the annual salary for this role?
Starting salary: £27,000 - £29,000
Current salary: £33,000 - £35,000
What hours do you actually work, on average?
Start: 08:00
Finish: 17:00
What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Prepare well, research the company and the kind of projects they are involved with. In my case with the environment division researching water and sewage treatment would be helpful as well as the correct terminology used throughout the construction industry
Do you have any interview tips?
I was asked about my relevant experience with the work I'd be involved with, and using various projects and areas of study at university, I was able to provide relevant answers. They also asked for a brief presentation to introduce myself and what I understood about the company. There was also some tasks I was asked to participate in with the other candidates. Being confident and making your voice heard are important so be sure not to be too reserved or shy. However the number one priority is teamwork and showcasing how you can contribute in a co-operative setting
