What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

Allows you to manage your own centre and gives you a high level of responsibility and ability to make autonomous decisions.

Worst

The working hours are incredibly unsociable - working every saturday and late finishes in the week. It is hard to book time off and you almost feel guilty for doing so as you'll be leaving the other manager alone to run the whole centre by themself. There is a huge lack of recognition and reward. Although pay went up slightly in january, i dont feel we get paid enough for the amount of work that we do and the amount of stress we are put under. There is so much pressure put on us to hit goals and targets but when we do, we just get a 'well done' which is not motivating or rewarding. The senior leadership team don't seem to have a real understanding of what we have to go through on a day to day basis in centre.

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Ensure you thoroughly research what the role actually entails. The role is highly challenging for a number of reasons and the hours are unsociable. Most people in the company will agree that they dont have much of a social life or a work life balance so only apply if this is something you are truly willing to give up.

Do you have any interview tips?

Be aware of the various sides to the role, its not just about education and tutoring, but the role is also largely sales heavy and requires you to have a level of commercial awareness and seasonal trends, so may be worth researching more about this as you will get questions asked about how you can hit your monthly goals.
