What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

If you are successful in your role, recruitment offers very high salary opportunities as I am less than two years out of university but am on £40K+ (not in London).

You get to meet a wide variety of people from a huge number of industries which makes the day to day work very interesting.

Company atmosphere/culture is very good and, in general, everyone you meet is friendly and personable.

There are a large number of career progression opportunities within the company, both within recruitment itself, and within the various education / HR / accounts / etc. support departments.

Worst

Be very sure that you are comfortable carrying out sales activities in a high-stress environment. While I have done very well at Reed and am currently heading towards my third promotion in less than two years, recruitment can be very challenging and, should you fail to meet KPI's, the pressure can be immense.

The graduate scheme at Reed offers the opportunity to move into different sectors, but you will still need to work for a year as a recruiter, which has led to high turn over for grads within the company.

Life work balance is highly skewered towards "work", and overtime is very much expected and necessary if you want to be successful.
