What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
General application advice follows in this scenario as well. Make sure your application is edited and checked, as well as truthful. GE likes candidates form all backgrounds, as long as they can demonstrate an affinity (even if they have no direct experience) to the role and the GE way of working. Anything you can mention in you application about running improvement projects or simplifying processes - regardless of context - will earn you bonus points here.
Do you have any interview tips?
With the phone interview, the most important thing to show is that you want the role and want to take it further than its job description. It will be a standard, fairly relaxed competency based call, but aside from key skills and experiences, the interviewer will be looking for examples of proactivity and a passion to perform.
With the face to face, the interviewer is concerned about confidence (as one would expect), but also that you can demonstrate an ability with the core functions of the role. For an analytical role for example, you will probably be asked to demonstrate how you would work out some analytical based problems (for example, the number of people passing through arrivals at an international airport per x amount of time).
