Individual activity:
I was asked to design a superstructures foundations.

Know the regions geology, geography and history and be able to analyse the influence of these. Would any of the regions characteristics impede, alter of influence the ground investigation or design?
Advise the appropriate ground investigation and laboratory testing (why those techniques)? Different types of texting at different depths, depending on your chosen solution and how it will interact at different depths.
Chose the appropriate foundations and are there any draw backs to this choice? Mining in the area, historic flooding, groundwater, etc may all be influential and need to be evaluated (does the region historically encounter these, or what does the region encounter).

Group activity:
Current rail way crossing, without shutting the crossing there will need to be a new crossing formed which does not cross the tracks, allowing an undisrupted rail.

There was a river 100m running parallel.

1 hour was given to think of all the potential environmental, social, economic, design, rail, road, etc. implications and then present the solution.
