Past work experience/year in industry and summer placements definitely help.

Do you have any interview tips?

Know about metrology and how to use basic metrology tools.
Understand engineering drawings, GD&T and have an awareness of basic material science (thermal expansion and how it affects the form of a part).
The role is primarily customer facing so coming across as likeable would help.
Know the brief history of the company, founder and how it has progressed.
Look at the company website.
Speak about how you have *practically used* the learning you have had from University, i.e Formula Student.
