What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Show that you meet the competencies (find these online), can fit into a 'trusted to deliver excellence' culture and can consider the customer and innovation. Show that you do extra-curricular activites and go to lectures etc. outside of work/eduction to widen and enhance your knowledge. If coming from university put the best case scenario for your grade expectation as it may get you the interview (but doesn't matter otherwise) - the minimum grade for everyone is 2:1 once they've been offered the job no matter what they put down on their application.

Do you have any interview tips?

Tech interview - Make sure you go through the Rolls-Royce site and learn about the engine and the different parts. You may be asked to identify a part and say how it was manufactured - most likely to be a fan blade piece, turbine or compressor blade - but learn everything you can. Also cover manufacturing and fluid dynamics. They don't expect you to know everything and will push hard to find your limits so the key is to think aloud and show logical steps. Don't panic - even if you struggle to answer you've probably done well!
For competency interview - Show that you're driven - but be honest if you're not exactly sure where it is you're going. Make sure you prepare answers for each of the competencies.
Group exercise - be yourself, don't shout anyone down but make sure you assert yourself.
