What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

In my last rotation, it would be the technical problem solving and being supported by a team of knowledgable engineers who you can go to for advice. In my current rotation, it would be researching new technologies and having the potential to shape the project direction. The 9 day fortnight is great too as you get 3 day weekends every fortnight.

Worst

It can be difficult to stand out at times in a graduate scheme and the rotations options are competitive, so you need to prove yourself.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Current salary: £27,000 - £29,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:30

Finish: 17:30

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Show that you are a motivated and enthusiastic person who can adapt to change. Draw not only on your academic achievements, but also your soft skills and show that with these combined you are able to go above and beyond expectations when given the opportunity.

Do you have any interview tips?

The interviews vary depending on when you apply. I applied in April and got my job interview in June. It involved a telephone interview first, where I was asked what I knew about the company and then the usual competency questions. At the end try to ask questions about the projects on that site you are applying to as the business areas vary across the UK sites. This way you can get an idea of some of the projects you may be working on.

For the face to face interview, I had to give a presentation on a topic given to me prior to the interview. LMUK likes to use tag lines, which is where you put a few words with your main point from this slide in larger text to the side or at the bottom of the slide. When being questioned at the end, try to show that you are well-read around the topics on your slide.

One technical interview question involved asking about my knowledge of systems engineering. I'd advise looking up the V model and familiarising yourself with the engineering project lifecycle.
