What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
The transportation department is interesting and a whole lot of projects are available to get your teeth into both here and abroad. My main advice is that you should get yourself any engineering related experience and find ways to independently prepare yourself for the working environment in terms of CSCS, PTS etc.
Remember that everyone has a degree and you need to find ways to tailor yourself to the job you want. It's all about giving yourself that competitive advantage!.

Undoubtedly you will be asked about your experience and you will find a lot of materials online about how to answer the typical questions. One thing to bear in mind is not to over prepare. Bear in mind that you've got the experience and you don't need to recite everything as you've written it in your preparation essay.
