What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

flexibility on working location
flexibility on start time between 7:30 - 9:00 and work for 8.5 hrs from start (this may not be available in every role of business unit)
working with information I have been able to see multiple departments in my business unit and how they operate
learning everyday, there is no one size fits all solution with improving information management systems which means I get to try something new every day
My manager allows me to work on my own and just come to him with any issues. This has helped raise my confidence in my skills as I have been able to complete projects on my own and get feedback from end users to improve.

Worst

Being a graduate I have found that sometimes people will not respond to my email first time for information or with a delay, this impacts my work and delays output for everyone that needs this data.
There was not a clear path of where my role would take me when I started and this was a bit stressful for the first few months but has since been resolved.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Current salary: £27,000 - £29,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

Start: 08:30

Finish: 17:00

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Research the Galliford Try thoroughly there are a lot of business units in Galliford Try including Environment, building, highways you may prefer one over the other.

There will be an online aptitude test at some point in which you will answer maths and English questions along with some problem solving questions, practice some free online tests prior to this as it is timed.

Get comfortable talking in front of others, during the group assessment you will be split into groups to debate 2 topics one you prepare for before hand and one you will find out on the day. Make sure that the stick to what you think and don't change the side of the debate just because everyone else is, you can change your mind if you think the other side has a better argument. In the second debate I ended up the only person on one side of the debate as these on my side switched mid way it was hard to debate a whole group but believe this showed that I am willing to put myself out there for what I believe and would do the same in work if I think another process would be better.

Also during the group assessment you will do some other group tasks ensure that you include everyone in your group in discussion and that you make sure you are seen to contribute.

Overall do your research and make sure it is what you are looking for from my experience they are a great company to work for!
