What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Relax.
Ask whoever you can for information regarding the next stages (e.g. phone interview, Assessment day).
For the code part, try and do TDD (write tests before you write code). You don't have to have a complete solution, do as much as possible. Keep your methods short (TDD)!
On the assessment day, relax and be a good team member. Don't try and one up each other or compete with each other.
