What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

I love that I get to work on something that actually matters. I enjoy the programming although firstly I hated it, since I personally don't code in high level language. However, now I have got a chance to work on a project that involves high level langague.

Seeing the product leave, we work on pumping stations and seeing a whole kiosk leaving and being signed of with my name as resposible software engineer makes me feel very confident.

Relaxed office life and home working, the company is very flexable with home working and the office I work at is very chilled and the people here are lovely and always nice to chat to.

Opportunity to grow and try new things. Being a software engineer within GT gives me plenty opportunities to try different softwares, languages and enviorments. It's nice to have an option to try new things.

As a part of graduate role GT provides training that is conducted by external company which is fun and educational. It invloves traveling out to new places and networking with people from different sectors.

Worst

Communication, sometimes the wrokshop doesn't communicate with us well when the jobs are complated and need software.

Still down to communication, PMs can sometimes get chaotic with projects running and sometimes there willl be requriment to push certain jobs to be completed quicker than excpected.

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Resarch the company not only to do well on your cover letter but also to see if the company is a great fit for you. Make sure to tailor your CV for job specific :)

Do you have any interview tips?

Be yourself, make sure to talk on the rectutment phase but don't talk over others. Show off your soft skills that you were polishing while at uni and just enjoy it. Make sure to reaserch company values this is emphasised through the whole graduate role but also within company. I personally wasn't ask to much about my techincal skills which is odd being a software engineer, the company belives in teaching - you can teach the technical skills but your soft skills can only be enhanced. You don't have to be perfect in all of the areas but if there is something unique about yourself make sure you play that to your strenght.
