What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Make sure you get other people to read through it to spot any mistakes and give you advice on how it comes across. Don't put anything in it that you wouldn't be prepared to explain or defend when asked in an interview. Make sure your application matches with any information that is available via social media such as LinkedIn. Don't copy and paste from one application into another - tailor it to each company even if it takes more time.

Remember that the interview is a two way process, it's as much about them getting to know you as you getting to know them. You can get a really good feel about a company just by the receptionist who welcomes you and the atmosphere of the office. Make sure you've done your homework on the company and the types of things that they're involved in, not only in terms of business but also charity work and sports schemes. Make sure you have a few questions lined up to ask at the end, whether it's about what you might expect if you were to work there or how the interviewers got to where they are.
