What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?
Prepare for interviews and assessment centres well. For the NGDP assessment centres you should be able to show your leadership and awareness of challenges facing local government today (particularly financial).
Do you have any interview tips?
Make sure you know the councils you have interviews at as well as you can. They will be very impressed if you can show knowledge of some of the issues that that specific council is dealing with (e.g has it recently received significant funding through central government, like a city deal? Have there recently been problems in A and E wards in the area showing a real need to join up health and social care?). You should be able to find this on the council's website, in the council's business plan and in local news .
