What are the Best and Worst things about your job?

Best

There is a great workplace atmosphere. I'm given the responsibility to own projects and to implement my own suggestions with clear results. The focus on learning is excellent, training or shadowing opportunities are never questioned and conference attendance is encouraged. Flexible attitude extends to the working locations and approach to time management.

Worst

As a large company, decision making can often be prescriptive and last minute. As such, organisation of priorities can be difficult.

What is the annual salary for this role?

Starting salary: £25,000 - £27,000

Current salary: £25,000 - £27,000

What hours do you actually work, on average?

What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

An understanding of the issues facing the water industry and the exciting challenges we face is always great to mention as it shows commitment. I would also say as much as possible, get across your enthusiasm for the things you do. We all take pride in our work, so are always keen to hear about your passions as well. Finally, be honest. Integrity is vital to this industry and you are definitely not expected to know everything before you join.

Do you have any interview tips?

It sounds clichéd, but as far as possible, be yourself. There's a wide range of personality types in my team but one common feature is honesty. Interviewers always want you to portray who you are and to succeed. Most of any job is working with other people, treat the interviewer as somebody you want to work with.

My questions were strength based so take time to think about what you value and how you approach certain tasks. Examples are great in this scenario. Check the company's values and see where you align with them without being too rehearsed.
