What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Strive to show how flexible you are on your C.V and/or covering letter. In large companies, it is not necessarily the most suitable candidate to the job role that is chosen, there could be candidates who are better suited to the company longer term, and that's very appealing to managers. This is due to the large amount of business areas that they cover, and they may have future plans which you fit in to much better than other candidates.

Also, stand out with a bit of information outside of work or education, like any charity work you may have done or sports teams/organisations that you may have been part of. This will help you add substance to the interview before you even get there, and it makes it much easier to connect with your interviewer.

Do you have any interview tips?

If you have an interview, the main reason why you are there is so the interviewer(s) can see what kind of person you are, and perhaps how you will fit in to the work environment. This means it's more important to be yourself and to get along with the interviewers than it is to out-and-out sell yourself. Obviously, it is important to back up what you have written on your C.V, but you will be far more memorable to them if you get along with them, and they think that they would have no problems working with you.
This doesn't mean talk about yourself the whole time; a useful way to make yourself feel more comfortable in an interview situation is to engage in some light-hearted conversation with the interviewers, they may even open up to you about their hobbies and interests, making the whole situation feel much more natural. It helps to remove the hierarchy in the room.
