What advice would you give to someone applying to this role?

Previous experience within Construction is not essential, so make sure you show a keen interest in the industry as a whole.
Try and have a specific role in mind of what you think you would like to do (i.e. Quantity Surveying, Build Management, Environmental etc.)

Be yourself.
Show attributes of being a good people person. Being a Quantity Surveyor means a lot of communication with the customer.
